Arrieta is a well-known contemporary Spanish artist who has always declared himself a creator influenced by different oriental cultures. Cartoons, literature, television and oriental cinema are his source of inspiration and knowledge mixed with a European way of understanding and making contemporary art learned in university classrooms. This combination of influences and the combination of different artistic languages makes his works unique and different. Arrieta’s mission is to produce pieces of art directly related to new ways of understanding art. In his latest projects, Arrieta tries to approach all types of audiences in a playful and festive way, mixing all kinds of creative media such as drawing, photomontages, wall paintings and toys. For Arrieta, art must generate positive experiences in people and the creative act is a sport.
Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country, Arrieta has extensive experience as a teacher and lecturer. He is one of the most recognized and recognizable Spanish artists of his generation, which has numerous awards and mentions, and whose work and career has been collected by many publications. He has a long history of exhibition within and outside our borders, especially in Europe, the United States and Asia, and his work is part of important private and public collections, highlighting the Guggenheim Bilbao, Caja Madrid or Casa Asia in Barcelona, among many.

Judas Arrieta has also participated in television and radio programs as a specialist in topics related to oriental cultures. The popular culture of China, Japan and South Korea are its specialties. He has also participated in conferences in which he has spoken about the relationship between contemporary art and popular cultures such as manga, anime, videogames, JPOP, the Kaiju Eiga or cinema of monsters, oriental gastronomy and secular traditions. Between 2007 and 2013, Judas Arrieta opened MA Studio in Beijing where he created and organized the first artistic residences program in China for Spanish artists. For 7 years more than 40 Spanish artists went through their studio and developed different artistic projects that were exhibited and promoted art galleries and Chinese museums. MA Studio has also regularly published catalogues where all these experiences have been captured.
