Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country in 1990. He worked as an illustrator and freelance designer for several years until his incorporation in the newspaper El Correo in 1993. In 2007 he joined the staff of National Geographic Magazine in Washington DC.
He has been an associate professor at the University of Navarra and has given lectures and workshops in Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Latin America. In 2012, he was named one of the 5 most influential graphic designers in the world during the last 20 years. He has won more than 200 awards in the editions of the SND (Society for NewsDesign), SPD, ÑH, British Archaeologist Award, Best American Infographic and Malofiej, including the Peter Sullivan Award, the highest award in computer graphics.
In 2012, he was named one of the 5 most influential graphic designers in the world during the last 20 years. He has won more than 200 awards…
In 2013 he was nominating an Emmy “Walking With Giants” in the category of “New Approaches: Arts, Lifestyle, Culture”, in 2016 got another nomination for his animation of Trajan’s column. He is an enthusiast of comics and science fiction.
