Carles Puche, born in La Pobla de Segur in 1949, is a scientific illustrator of nature. Self-taught draftsman, since 1980 he draws themes of nature. He is a member of the Catalan Institution of Natural History, the Mexican Academy of Scientific Illustrators and is part of the Catalan Association of Scientific Communication (ACCC). He has collaborated with his drawings in various publications such as Mundo Científico, National Geographic, El Temps, Ciencia, La Mostela and others. He has published articles in magazines such as Method, Environment, Scientific World, among others, as well as in publications in Colombia, Norway, Morocco, the United States, or science museums such as CosmoCaixa in Barcelona.

Since the beginning of the first course of naturalistic drawing in Montseny, in 1982, he has taught more than twenty courses sponsored by various entities, such as the Botanic Garden of the University of Valencia, the Caixa de Pensions, the Museum of the Science of Barcelona, GEPEC, the Natural Sciences Museum “La Tela”, the Natural Park of the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà, the Diputació de Barcelona and the Unió Excursionista de Sabadell, among others. He collaborated with the course of scientific illustration within the Chair of Science Dissemination of the University of Valencia and is currently participating in the Postgraduate in Scientific Illustration of the University of Bilbao, the first one of this kind in Spain and has been related to it since it was created. From him, the recognition of scientific illustration as a scientific discipline must be encouraged.

Very linked to the territory, it illustrates the nature of its surroundings and has collaborated with top-level scientists, in collaborations that have resulted in the first identifying drawing of the new genus of ants “Thecnomyrmex caritatis” discovered in an amber fossil for the entomologists Cesare Baroni Urbani and Carlos Roberto Brandao, as well as the amber fossil called “Jorge Caridad”.

He has also illustrated books, such as an edition of The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin, a publication about Edgar Alan Poe or has participated in exhibitions about Miquel Martí i Pol.
